For reading the different document types SUCHWERK uses the IFilter technology from Microsoft. Only file type that are recognised by a IFilter can be read. For all Office format's the IFilters are already installed on your computer. IFilters are also used by a lot of other search engines.
A large number of IFilters can be obtained free of charge from IFilter-Org
The power of the IFilter concept can be shown through the following example. You have scanned documents in the TIFF format. Install the IFilter for TIFF from the Microsoft Office-CD. You can now access all the scanned documents in SUCHWERK like any other document.
The IFilter Explorer shows you the installed IFilters on your system. |
